Client: Shandaggan Farm, Inc., a fresh and frozen seafood processor
Location: Jackson Center, PA

Previous “Building of the Year” award from the American Pole Builders Association in the category of industrial usage.

This project is for a Greenfield installation of new state of the art biological and agricultural facility. This commercial seafood processor chooses STEVENS to design and develop the first large scale commercial use of “aquaponics,” which is the cultivation of plants and aquatic animals in a recirculating environment. The system relies on the natural relationship between the aquatic animals and the plants to maintain the environment. Shandaggan Farm is interested in avoiding the high cost of ongoing manual labor.

This system allows them to do so by naturally providing clean water to the fish farm. The building includes a 67,000 square foot production area and attached greenhouse. We provide all of the process design and development engineering, automation, equipment procurement and construction management for the building and “aquaponic” system.
