Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel chooses to save on
energy consumption by installing an electric arc furnace (EAF) for production
facilities in a brownfield location.
This melt shop appropriation study
requires STEVENS engineering team to provide the study, plant and equipment
layout, and the arrangement drawings. The client is in need of a 250 ton A.C.
electric arc furnace shop, which includes a ladle metallurgical facility,
Consteel scrap preheating conveyor system, baghouse, water treatment plant and
high voltage switchyard with Static Var Compensator.
In addition to the
study and design, STEVENS supplies on site construction management for this
project. In total, thirty-five contractors are involved with 800,000 man-hours
STEVENS assists the lender for the project in their due
diligence review, which results in complete funding.
The total project
cost is $123 million.
